Iris's 9-Month Doctor Visit

Fresh back from New York, Iris was ready to see what all that vacation milk from Mama D had done for her constitution! And perhaps show off a few NY-style skillz?

As usual, the stats:

Height: 28"
Weight: 17 lbs. 7 oz.

I have a theory now that people either look up or make up their baby's percentiles for weight and height- I think we've heard once or twice such a number.. Or maybe its just that our Ped doesn't focus on such things..?

The stat phase all takes place before the Ped actually comes in. During waiting period that follows before the Ped phase, Iris is typically antsy in her pantsy and we usually try to entertain her with full-bodied versions of the Itsy-Bitsy Spider with some success...

But when the Ped enters, Iris livens up.. And this time, that meant crawling back and forth across the cushioned, sterile examination table... After constant attempts over the few days since her return from NY, it was like she almost got it at that moment in the Peds office! Everything came together- hand followed knee followed other hand followed other knee..

Of course the normal portion of the Ped Phase, with both of us spilling our guts about her diet and poops and firing away nonsequitor questions, was taking place simultaneously to this miracle.. It readlly wasn't until later, leaving the appointment, that we finally were able to grasp what had just happened..

And then there was the third phase, the Shot Phase. The Ped is long gone (they definitely make us wait to give time for the Ped to exit Iris's mind), and Iris is definitely ready to go. Naturally, we forgot to give Iris her Tylenol ahead of the appointment- It makes total sense the day before the appointment! Oh well, she took the shots pretty well considering those tender little nuglets!!

And with that, filtering through all of the information we've just gleamed, we walk out to the car, asking each other if there's anything we'd forgotten..
